Fundatia ADEPT participates in Local Farming and Short Food Chains Conference, Brussels, 20 April
On 20 April, DG Agriculture and DG Sanco jointly held a conference dedicated to local farming, small-scale farms and short food chains. Anca Dalmasso, a Târnava Mare producer, was invited to make a presentation, representing the small-scale producers of the Târnava Mare area. Three representatives from Fundația ADEPT were also invited to attend.
The conference was held, with representatives from all EU countries, to examine how the EU can better encourage local farming, small-scale farms and short food chains, when regulations tend to push the production and supply of food towards more intensive methods, losing cultural diversity. This important debate made it clear that the overwhelming opinion of the European public – the tax-payers who pay for the CAP – want traditional farming landscapes and systems to be preserved by the CAP- not destroyed as an unintended consequence of production and supply regulations that favour large scale. For further details see conference reports.
